This year marks the 5th anniversary of the #WeStandBYyou campaign, initiated by LIBERECO – Partnership for Human Rights on July 9, 2020. The campaign has grown into an international movement advocating for the rights of political prisoners in Belarus, involving over 560 politicians from 24 countries. Its roots, however, go back to 2011, when LIBERECO, together with the Belarusian Human Rights Centre Viasna, introduced the idea of godparenthoods for political prisoners. Today, with over a thousand people imprisoned for political reasons, solidarity has never been more important.
